'Killer' fog causes deadly accident in Multan, police officer died
PMD has forecasted rain starting from Tuesday in several parts of the country
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Cold wave has swept most parts of the country while the air quality has been showing no sign of improvement.
Reportedly, the severe weather conditions were factors in a deadly accident between a bus and five cars which killed a motorway police patrolling officer and injured at least five people in Jala area of Multan.
They were rushed to a local hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, thick smog has blanketed motorway and reduced visibility to zero and 50 meters for motorists, who are being warned of traffic congestion at motorway sections including Khanewal to Multan, Lahore to Faisalabad and Gojra, Lahore to Kot Momin, Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad and Gojra.
Motorway police authorities have advised commuters to use fog lights during their journeys, or rather avoid travelling unnecessarily.
Besides, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain starting from Tuesday in central and upper parts of the country including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Baluchistan.
Skardu recorded -14°C, Astore recorded -10 °C, and Kalam, Gilgit, Hunza and Quetta recorded -3 °C, Malamjaba and Murree recorded -6°C, Kalat recorded -2°C, Islamabad and Peshawar recorded -1°C, Lahore and Faisalabad recorded 2°C, Multan recorded 4°C and the metropolitan city of Karachi recorded 12°C.
Moreover, frost is expected on the mountainous region.
