Death penalty over corruption may reduce country's population: NAB chairman

Dunya News

The Chairman credited the present government for giving complete autonomy to the anti-graft agency.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Sunday said that neither the anti-graft watchdog would take dictations nor it would take revenge actions.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Sunday, he said that those involved in corruption will be held accountable.

The anti-graft agency chairman said that the death sentences over corruption may reduce country’s population by half.

Justice (r) Javed Iqbal asked if the Bureau had done anything wrong by asking how US$95 billion had been spent, adding that a good institution is also being targeted in the Parliament.

“No wrong step would be taken against any bureaucrat,” the NAB chairman said and added the institution would continue its work in all circumstances.

Every bureaucrat should go along with the government’s orders which are according to the law, he added.

The NAB chairman said that the Bureau will continue its work according to the law of the land despite hue and cry.

The Chairman credited the present government for giving complete autonomy to the anti-graft agency.
