Is the PM above the law or SC? Justice Isa asked.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa on Thursday expressed resentment over Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Anwar Mansoor Khan‘s absence in a case pertaining to Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) sit-in in Faizabad.

During the hearing, the deputy attorney general informed that AGP was attending a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

Is the AGP an economic expert? What business does the attorney general have with economics? the judge asked.

The AGP should have refused to attend the meeting and informed the PM that he has to appear before the court today, he went on to say.

Is the PM above the law or SC? Justice Isa inquired.

Earlier, SC had rejected reports submitted by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the case.

Justice Qazi Faiz Isa said that if the government doesn’t want proceeding of the case then it can be buried, adding that was curious whether the state is run by the government or street power.

The Faizabad sit-in—which began in November, 2017—had severely crippled routine-life activities in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It lasted for three weeks and ended after a failed operation by the government which included a deal brokered by the army between the state and protesters.
