PM orders financial compensation package for protest affectees in Punjab

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed Punjab government to prepare a financial compensation package for the affectees of the protest staged by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) across the country.
The premier had taken stern notice of the vandalism that occurred in wake of the sit-in. He has ordered the concerned authorities to compensate the loss of the people.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary had earlier said that the authorities are estimating the damage to public property.
Talking to the media in Islamabad, Fawad maintained that all the provinces have been directed to submit details in this regard.
Over 100 miscreants arrested for vandalism
Police officers on Monday have launched a crackdown against miscreants for vandalizing law and order situation across the country during protests of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), following acquittal of Asia Bibi by Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC).
According to security personnel, more than 100 suspects have been detained from Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karachi, Sheikhupura and Peshawar so far.
Police official said that raids were being conducted countrywide to nab the rioters.
An action was also underway in Lahore where eight miscreants have been remanded in police custody for 14 days.
FIA’s action
On the other hand, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also initiated process of accumulating evidence against all those involved in pillage and wanton violence during the protest.
Interior ministry has also dispatched a draft to FIA in this regard.

Sources privy to FIA told our correspondent that officials will identify the culprits involved in vandalism through videos and pictures available on social media whereas data through other sources would also be garnered.
The agency has also urged masses to lodge complains and share evidence with authorities concerned.
Aasia Bibi, 53, who was on death row for eight years, was acquitted by the country’s top court on Wednesday, with judges saying the prosecution contained "glaring and stark" contradictions.

Shortly after the SC’s landmark ruling was pronounced, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) political party, led by Khadim Rizvi staged a major protest outside government buildings in the eastern city of Lahore, with fellow TLP leaders declaring the three judges who acquitted Asia Bibi to be "liable to be killed".
However, the protest was called off after an agreement between government and the protesters.
