Flagship reference: Didn't find any account of Nawaz through which money was transferred, says Wajid Zia
Accountability court resumed hearing of the case in Islamabad.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Wajid Zia on Thursday stated that the joint investigation team (JIT)—constituted on orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) under light of verdict in Panama Papers case—had not find a single bank account of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif through which money was transferred abroad for establishment of Flagship.
He made these remarks as Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Haris continued to cross-examine former during hearing of the case pertaining to Flaghsip Investment reference.
As the hearing went underway, Khawaja Haris asked Zia weather Nawaz Sharif had made investment in Flagship Investment company. Haris also inquired whether there is any document present which proves investment was made by Nawaz Sharif.
The Sharif’s legal counsel also inquired whether Panamagate JIT had found any such bank account which proved transfer of money from Pakistan for formation of Flagship company. To this Zia replied, “JIT had not found any such document or bank account.”
He went on to say that not even a single bank account of Nawaz Sharif had been found by JIT through which it can be proven that money had been transferred abroad.
“Also, no witness had given testimony that Nawaz Sharif had helped him/her in formation of the Flasgship”, Wajid was quoted as saying.
