Ishaq Dar's wife moves court against auction of assets
The court issued notice to NAB's prosecutor.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The wife of former finance minister Ishaq Dar has on Wednesday challenged verdict of an accountability court pertaining to auctioning of Dar’s property.
Tabassum Ishaq Dar filed the appeal in the accountability court today [October 24].
As per details garnered, court has issued notice to prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Imran Shafique and summoned counter-arguments on November 7.
Tabassum—in her petition—stated that she is the sole owner of the house located in Lahore’s Gulberg area. “I will suffer loss if the house is seized by the officials”, claimed Dar’s wife.
Likewise, Tabassum also raised objections on freezing of a bank account linked to Hajvery Foundation. She requested court to allow her using funds from the frozen account.
The court issued notice to NAB’s prosecutor and also provided him copy of Tabassum’s petition. Later, the hearing was adjourned till Nov 7.
On October 2, court had allowed NAB to auction former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s properties.
While announcing the reserved verdict on NAB’s plea, Justice Mohammad Bashir directed to put ex-minister’s Lahore properties and his vehicles on auction.
The court said that it will be the prerogative of the Punjab Government to either sell the assets or retain them with itself.
NAB had approached the accountability court for the auction of movable and immovable properties of the ex-minister as he is absconding in assets beyond income reference.
The bureau had also seized all properties of Mr Dar that included a house in Lahore, three plots in Al-Falah Housing Society, six acres of land in Islamabad, two-kanal plot in Parliamentarians Enclave, one plot in the Senate Cooperative Housing Society, another plot of two kanals and nine marlas in Islamabad and six vehicles.
