Summary Muttahida law makers want postponement of devolution plan for five years.
The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) demanded that the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) dissolution should be delayed for five years to enable the provinces to raise the level of education to the international standards. In a joint statement, the MQM National Assembly lawmakers said that the HEC played a vital role in uplifting the standard of education in the country and its dissolution would incur an irreparable loss to the higher education. According to the statement, the 18th Amendment creates no hindrance in the HEC’s devolution.
