OPDs closure pains patients as YDA protest continues
Thousands of patients were left unattended in OPDs and indoor wards.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The closure of outpatient department (OPDs) amid protest of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab against alleged harassment of lady doctor at Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan has entered third day on Monday, has caused great deal of inconvenience to the patients and their attendants leading those affected due to strike to stage protest by blocking Ferozepur Road.
The hapless patients have been suffering owing to protest as reports were received that hundreds of scheduled operations and surgeries were postponed in the wake of YDA strike.
Moreover, thousands of patients were left unattended in OPDs and indoor wards.
Earlier, YDA has been on protest mode in parts of Punjab against harassment of lady doctor at the infirmary.
The protesting young doctors have closed OPDs of various hospitals in the province including Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur in addition to Rahim Yar Khan.
The YDA said that the protest would continue until government fulfilled their demands.
They demanded the Punjab Government to take action against the culprit after inquiry as well as enact laws providing for protection of on duty doctors.
Meanwhile, YDA president has asked the local administration to beef up security of doctors so that they can fearlessly do their job.
