Punjab Govt prepares draft to set up Police Reforms Commission
Punjab Home Department has sent the draft Chief Minister Secretariat for approval.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Government has prepared a draft to establish Police Reforms Commission. The Commission will give recommendations for amendment of legislation and policies regarding police reforms, Dunya News reported on Sunday.
Sources said that the commission will also give recommendations regarding police structure, administrative issues, capacity building.
According to the draft prepared by the Punjab Home Department, the chairman of the commission will be appointed by the provincial government who will have powers to appoint its members.
Sources further informed that commission’s chairman, members and assistant members will not be entitled to any benefit or compensation for their services. Formulation of model police laws will also be included in the objectives of commission.
Punjab Home Department has sent the draft Chief Minister Secretariat. Sources said that the commission will start its work soon after the approval of the draft.
