Senators demand raise in young doctors salaries
Updated on

Summary Senators have demanded the government raise the salaries of young doctors.

The MQM members and opposition parties staged a walk-out in Senate over electricity loadshedding in 16 districts of Balochistan and absence of ministers in the session. Mir Hasil Jonejo, while talking on a point of objection in the Senate session, said that a country could not progress in which income of a ‘biryani’ vendor was more than a doctor’s salary. Opposition leader Waseem Sajjad said that doctors’ salaries were less than police constables. MQM’s Sherala Malik said that doctors’ salary issue was not yet resolved even after a month-long protests. Senator Nayyar Bukhari said that health was a provincial matter after the 18th Amendment, and the federation would not resolve this issue.
