No compromise on national interest, says state minister for interior

Afridi chaired a meeting after assuming charge as state minister for interior.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - National interest will not be compromised at any cost and nepostism and negligence would not be tolerated.

This was stated by Shehryar Afridi who chaired a meeting after assuming charge as state minister for interior.

The interior secretary briefed Afridi on administrative matters of the ministry. The minister directed authorities concerned to treat overseas Pakistanis with respect.

It is to be mentioned here that Afridi is the only serving state minister in the 25-member cabinet.

Considered a very close aide of Imran Khan, Afridi is the son of Haji Nadir Shah Afridi - a prominent politician and parliamentarian who worked alongside Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Shehryar Afridi contested the 2002 elections as an independent candidate from Kohat. He won a seat in the 2013 general polls and was elected MNA from Kohat in 2018.
