Khawaja Harris continued cross-examination of Wajid Zia.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court on Thursday has ordered to present relevant part of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report’s Volume 10 over National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor and Wajid Zia’s request.

During the hearing of Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investments references headed by Justice Malik Mohammad Arshad, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris continued cross-examination of Wajid Zia.

Exemption plea

Meanwhile, jail authorities have submitted a plea seeking exemption of Nawaz Sharif from hearing on Friday due to protest against Dutch blasphemous caricatures in Islamabad.

Defence lawyer Khawaja Harris said that he will continue cross-examination of Wajid Zia in the absence of ex-PM.

Earlier, legal counsel of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif had barred him from filing plea seeking exemption from hearing.

Replying to Haris’s question, Zia told court net profit order of HME had been acquired from report of Audit Bureau. He said, “It is neither product of Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) nor was an attempt made to consult those who prepared these documents”.

Zia—during cross-examination—snubbed Haris over asking technical questions. The judge of the accountability court also barred Haris from going into technicalities and asked him not to divert attention from the case. To this, Haris replied he had been practicing law for 40 years and Zia knew why such questions were posed before him.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor apprised the court report was submitted by the defence lawyer. He further added Nawaz Sharif—the ousted premier—received 88pc profit HME.
