Musharraf treason case: Special court to resume hearing today

Musharraf's counsel said former president was not medically cleared by the doctors to travel.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A special court setup in the Federal Shariat Court is all set to resume hearing of the high treason case against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf today (Wednesday).

A three-member bench, headed by Justice Yawar Ali, will resume hearing of the case in Islamabad today. The case pertains to the imposition of extra-constitutional emergency in the country in 2007.

The Interior Ministry will submit its reply regarding Musharraf s return to the country in the Court during today’s proceedings.

Meanwhile, Pervez Musharraf has once again refused to return to Pakistan, his lawyer Akhtar Shah said on Tuesday, citing ill-health and security concerns.

Musharraf’s counsel said that the former president faced security risk and was not medically cleared by the doctors in Dubai to travel. He asserted that Musharraf will appear before the court if president level security is provided to him.
