A summary seeking to increase working days to six was presented during cabinet meeting

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal cabinet on Friday rejected a summary seeking to increase working days to six for government offices.

Sources told Dunya News that the federal cabinet has decided that the working hours in all offices would be from 9am to 5pm.

Sources furtehr said that Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered to keep the doors in all departments open for the litigants and made it clear that now the departments will have to work according to merit.

It is pertinent here to mention that a summary seeking to increase working days to six for government offices was presented during the cabinet meeting. According to the summary, government offices will remain open on Saturday.

The summary stated that the government had announced two weekly holidays on national level following the recommendation of Water and Power Ministry in 2011. The reason behind the move was to control the energy crisis and save power.

The interior ministry had opposed the move to reduce the weekly holidays across the country.

Despite two holidays, the employees continued to work 40 hours per week. However; the working hours will remain the same and will not affect the performance of employees even if the holidays are cut down to one.
