No compromise on national interests, PM Imran gives guideline to FO

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News ) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday made his maiden visit at the Foreign Office (FO) in Islamabad.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua welcomed the premier.



FO authorities gave a detailed briefing to PM Khan over the foreign policy of the country, relations with several countries including US and India, global and regional issues.

The prime minister provided guidelines to the FO authorities on the foreign policy of the country. He maintained that Pakistan wants relations with all the countries at the level of equality.

PM Khan stressed that the foreign policy should be independent and as per the public aspirations.

He directed to highlight the stance of Pakistan on international levels for which the embassies have to play a much active role.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in his first media interaction had said Pakistan’s new foreign policy would “begin and end at Pakistan”.

Vowing to further improve bilateral ties with all countries, particularly the neighbours, he said policy would be formulated to remove the trust deficit.
