SC permits overseas Pakistanis to vote in by-election
The Chief Justice congratulated the overseas Pakistanis following the decision.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Friday allowed overseas Pakistanis to vote in the by-election.
A three-member full bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar conducted hearing over the petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and others in SC Lahore registry.
During the hearing, CJP directed Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure foolproof arrangements with the assistance of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).
“The election results of iVoting should be kept entirely separate and should be presented in the parliament. In case of dispute, those results will be isolated,” he said.
The Chief Justice also congratulated the overseas Pakistanis following the decision.
PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry welcome the move of apex court and termed it a success for Khan.
