Nawaz Sharif's mother hospitalised
Shameem Akhtar was hospitalised after a medical team observed changes in her health.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The mother of former Nawaz Sharif on Sunday underwent a medical check-up, following which she was hospitalsed, doctors said.
Shameem Akhtar, who is a heart patient, was hospitalised after a medical team at Sharif Medical Complex observed changes in her health.
Akhtar, 85, earlier this month announced to accompany Nawaz Sharif to jail after he arrived in Pakistan.
She said that her son was returning to Pakistan to see her, adding that she believed the former prime minister, her granddaughter and son-in-law were innocent.
Nawaz, who returned from Britain, was handed a 10-year jail term on July 6 by an anti-corruption court in Pakistan, while his daughter and political heir Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to seven years in prison over the purchase of luxury flats in London in the 1990s.
