Election campaign expense limit: ECP to inspect candidates' accounts

The political finance wing will inspect the accounts of the candidates.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to examine the election expenses of both the successful and losing candidates.

The political finance wing will inspect the accounts of the candidates, 90 days after the ECP receives the details of election expenditure.

The ECP has set Rs40 lac limit for National Assembly candidate and Rs20 lac for the one contesting for provincial assembly seat. Action will be taken under corrupt practice against those candidates whose expenses will exceed the set limits.

ECP has directed the candidates to submit receipt over an expenditure of more than Rs1000.

The candidates are also not permitted to use any other account for expenses other than the one opened for the elections.
