Lahore (Dunya News) - Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued notice to one of the leading English newspaper’s journalist Cyril Almeida during the hearing of treason case against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi headed a three-member bench that heard the case on a petition seeking treason case against the two former premiers.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi appeared before the court.
The petitioner Advocate Azhar Siddique has maintained that that Nawaz Sharif betrayed the trust of nation by giving a controversial interview to Dawn journalist while Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has misused his authorities and shared national security committee’s meeting details with Nawaz therefore; treason case should be initiated against both the leaders.
During hearing, Abbasi adopted stance that he didn’t receive any court notice and had come to Lahore High Court to pursue another case which he has filed against the decision of appellate tribunal that disqualified him for life.
As the arguments concluded, LHC postponed the hearing of the case till September.
