Imran Khan's acquittal in SSP torture case enrages Nawaz Sharif
Those who have done nothing are attending the judicial proceedings, said Nawaz.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Ex-prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Friday expressed resentment over the acquittal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan in SSP Asmatullah torture case.
Talking to media in accountability court, Nawaz Sharif said that those who have done nothing are attending the judicial proceedings and Imran Khan got released without appearance. Imran Khan is talking about delay in elections as he didn’t get any positive response in Lahore rally, he added.
The ex-premier said that he is not allowed to meet ailing wife in London.
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz termed Khan’s acquittal as order from the top.
Earlier today, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) acquitted Imran Khan in SSP Asmatullah Junejo’s torture case due to lack of evidence against him.
Judge Shahrukh Arjumand of ATC accepted the acquittal plea of Imran Khan as SSP Junejo had not directly accused him and there was also lack of evidence against Imran Khan, who was present in the courtroom while the judgment was read out.
Cases were registered against Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri in the sit-in of 2014 which included PTV and Parliament attack case and SSP Asmatullah Junejo torture case.
