New Islamabad airport to be inaugurated today

The airport will become completely operational from Thursday.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The newly-built Islamabad International Airport will be inaugurated today (Tuesday). Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will be the chief guest on the occasion, Dunya News reported.

According to Civil Aviation Authority, first incoming flight of Pakistan International Airlines from Karachi will land at the new airport at 11 am on the same day, while first flight of the national airline will depart for Karachi at 12:30 pm.

The sources further said that the airport will become completely operational from Thursday.

The new international airport spreads over 19 square kilometres with 15 jetties including facilities to accommodate the world’s largest airplane.

The airport has two runways each 3.5 kilometer long. It is the biggest international airport of the country in terms of landing and passenger handling facilities.
