More than 25 health workers arrested as protest turns violent
Three police injured in clash with protesters
LAHORE (Dunya News) – More than 25 health staffers, including dengue workers and vaccinators, were arrested on Thursday following a clash with police.
The health staffers had gathered on Cooper Road to stage a protest, seeking job regularistaion and conveyance allowance. However, the situation took an ugly turn when they clashed with police who were trying to stop them from marching towards the Punjab Assembly.
The angry protester pelted stones at policemen, injuring three of them, and set ablaze a police vehicle and equipment of anti-riot force.
Police used water cannons and baton charged the protesters and took more than 25 protester into custody.
