ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday instructed police officials to nab Faisal Raza Abidi in contempt case and dismissed plea of the private news channel seeking forgiveness.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, resumed hearing of the case here in Islamabad today and issued contempt notice to the private TV channel.

CJP—during hearing—remarked that the administration of channel should be ashamed. CJP inquired whether such comments fell in the category of freedom of speech.

“Had channel not reviewed the programme before airing it”, remarked CJP. To this, channel owners confessed to their mistake of telecasting the programme and informed court that host had been fired.

The legal counsel of private TV channel stated that administration had sought forgiveness while the host had also been fired. To this, CJP remarked that forgiveness was not acceptable in such manners and directed to submit written reply in contempt case.

Later, the hearing was adjourned till May-3.
