Safdar maintained that all the courts and judges are responsibility of the state.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif s son-in-law retired Captain Muhammad Safdar said on Monday that firing at Justice Ijazul Ahsan’s residence is a cheap tactic.

Talking to journalists, he maintained that all the courts and judges are responsibility of the state.

Safdar said that politicians form the constitution while the courts translate them.

“We cannot fire on the constitution. Rather we are against those people who tear it down,” he asserted. We are with constitution makers and translators, he added.

Fired twice

On Sunday, the residence of Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan was fired twice in 12 hours. However; no human casualties were reported.

A case of the incident was lodged against unidentified persons in Model Town Police Station. Provisions of terrorism and attempt-to-murder were added in the case.

Punjab government also constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the incident.

Justice Ahsan was part of the five-member bench that heard the high-profile Panamagate case last year that led to the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif, the then prime minister.
