Justice Yahya Afridi rescued himself from the bench over the objections of Musharraf's lawyer.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The bench formed in the treason case of former president Pervez Musharraf dissolved once again on Thursday.

The development occurred after Justice Yahya Afridi rescued himself from the bench over the objections of Musharraf’s lawyer.

The petition submitted by the former president adopted stance that Justice Afridi was the lawyer of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in a case against emergency.

Therefore; he should excuse himself from the case. The petition also maintained that the court should take back March 8 order related to Musharraf’s arrest.

Court’s written order over the plea says that the accusation over Justice Afridi as being the lawyer of former CJP is contrary to facts as he was only a co-petitioner over November 2007 actions.

The order further said that Justice Afridi is rescuing himself from the case while keeping in view the rules of justice and ensure unbiased and fair trial.
