The nation is celebrating 78th Pakistan Day today with traditional zeal and enthusiasm.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The 78th Pakistan Day is being celebrated today (Friday) with traditional zeal and enthusiasm to mark the passage of the Lahore Resolution that led to the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia in 1947. The historic resolution, known as the Pakistan Resolution, was approved on March 23, 1940.

Special ‘dua’ ceremonies organised at the mosques after Fajr prayers across the country, seeking solidarity, integrity, prosperity and welfare of the motherland. The day dawned with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.



Pakistan Day holds a significant place in the history of the country and to mark it in a befitting manner, a spectacular joint armed services parade would be held at Shakarparian Parade Avenue in Islamabad in the morning.



People all over the country will renew the pledge to work hard in their respective fields for progress, peace and prosperity of the country and give every sacrifice for defence and protection of motherland.

The Day’s highlights will be students and civil society association rallies and peace walks besides seminars, symposiums and conferences where speakers will shed light on the role of Pakistan Resolution in the creation of Pakistan.



It is the public holiday and national flag is hoisted on all the main government and private buildings of the country.

Radio and TV channels will air special programmes and documentaries while newspapers will publish special supplements in connection with the Day.
