Raiwind Blast: Alleged facilitator among four rounded up

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The law-enforcement agencies have on Friday apprehended at least four suspects including an alleged facilitator of suicide blast in Raiwind near police checkpoint which left nine people dead and several others wounded.

Sources privy to the law-enforcement agencies said that the alleged suicide bomber was identified as Naseeb Shah, who was residing at his uncle’s place in the provincial capital’s Badami Bagh area.

The intelligence agencies also detained four alleged facilitators of the bomber.

On March 14, a suicide bomber blew himself him in Raiwind near police checkpoint.

At least nine people including police personnel were martyred and several others sustained injuries. The bomber blew himself up when police personnel tried to stop him from entering religious congregation.

Talking to Dunya News, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said the bomber targeted police personnel.

The bomber tried to enter religious congregation before blowing himself up, he added.


Death toll hits 11


Death toll in Raiwind suicide blast reached 11 as another victim named Ramzan succumbed to injuries today while under treatment in a hospital.

On the other hand, security personnel have started hunt for the suspects after completing geo-fencing of the area and short listing of the suspicious calls. The samples have also been sent to forensic laboratory.

Earlier on Wednesday, a suicide blast claimed nine lives and left over 20 wounded as the attacker targeted a police picket ahead of a religious congregation underway in Raiwind area.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Operations Wing, Dr Haider Ashraf said that police were target of the attack and two sub-inspectors and three constables embraced martyrdom among nine persons.
