Imran Khan files exemption, acquittal pleas in four cases

In media talk, Imran Khan accused his opponents of bribery in Lodhran NA-154 elections.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday appeared before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in four cases including PTV and parliament attack.

During the hearing presided over by judge Shahrukh Arjumand, Khan filed petition seeking exemption from appearance in the court and acquittal in the cases against him.

He argued that cases have been registered against him for political struggle. "Present your stance before the court through your lawyer," responded the judge.

Khan’s lawyer asked whether his client have to attend the next hearing. "The suspect has to appear before the court until the exemption is not granted to him," replied the judge.

The court after hearing arguments issued notice to police and sought reply from them over the petition of Imran Khan. The hearing was adjourned till February 26.

Talking to media after the hearing, Khan unleashed a verbal onslaught against his opponents. Reiterating his stance, he termed Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi ‘puppet PM’.

He accused his opponents of bribery in Lodhran NA-154 elections. Khan maintained that efforts are underway to bring forward another National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).

“They are all a mafia of corruption. Everyone of them is afraid that Nawaz Sharif’s possible conviction in corruption due to which all such tactics are being played,” he said.

“A huge amount of money has been spent during Lodhran elections gain votes while changing the minds of people. Their only aim is to pressurize the judiciary to receive another NRO, previously taken by Musharraf and then Zaradri in Charter of Democracy,” pronounced Khan.

PTI chief asserted that Punjab CM murders people through police but nobody arrests him.

He said that the cases against him are a democratic conspiracy against him. "I am a common man while Nawaz Sharif is Mughal-e-Azam," he uttered.

Imran Khan also commended Ali Tareen for running succesful election campaign of Lodhran NA-154 by-poll.
