ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has announced to observe a three-day mourning starting today on Sunday in connection with death of rights advocate Asma Jahangir.
Late Jahangir had served as the president of SCBA during her decades-long law career that garnered international acclaim and acknowledgment of her struggle for people’s rights.
The former SCBA president passed away today at the age of 66 owing to a cardiac arrest, her family confirmed to the media earlier in the day.
Lawmakers and Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar alike expressed grief over the demise and extended condolences to the grieving family.
Jahangir was the co-founder of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and occupied the office of president of SCBA for two years from October 2010 to October 2012.
