Karachi mayor observed that they will not allow individual decisions to be made in the party

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The deadlock between the factions created amidst split in the Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) over Senate tickets persisted for another consecutive day as Waseem Akhtar clarified that their party centre is based in Bahadurabad, and not PIB Colony where chief Farooq Sattar held meetings.

The Karachi mayor voiced against the individual decisions made by party. He reaffirmed the Rabita Committee’s decision against Kamran Tessori. “The decision made by Rabita Committee is final and we will not step back,” he said.

MQM-P leaders Nasreen Jalil and Khawaja Izhar said they will not allow the party to disintegrate.

Meanwhile, a delegation of leaders from the faction led by Amir Khan put forth their recommendations to MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar and hoped for successful negotiations.

MQM-P showed signs of intensifying split as meeting between MQM-P chief Dr Farooq Sattar and Rabita Committee over the issue of awarding Senate ticket to Kamran Tessori ended in a deadlock.

Dr Farooq Sattar was in favour of awarding Senate ticket to Kamran Tessori while the Rabita Committee is opposing this decision. Rabita Committee members also offered re-voting on the nominations of Senate tickets.

The deadlock remained as three-member delegation who met Farooq Sattar at the MQM-P PIB Colony office could not hold successful talks as the party chief insisted on the general workers session. The session was postponed as both factions attempt at resolution through talks.

Rabita Committee members returned to Bahadur Abad office after the meeting with MQM-P chief and unanimously opposed the nomination of Kamran Tessori.

Earlier, the deadlock between both factions remained as the three-member delegation who met Farooq Sattar could not hold successful talks with the party chief. Sattar told that the general workers session will happen by all means.

Meanwhile, Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Secretary General Raza Haroon had termed MQM-P Chief Farooq Sattar as 12th player of the match who is only a fielder, not captain. Talking to media outside Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office, Raza Haroon lashed out at Farooq Sattar, saying that his character is dubious. He said the MQM which Sattar talks about has already dissolved. On the issue of Senate elections, Raza Haroon offered the MQM leaders, who are not getting the tickets, to join PSP. He said that MQM workers are fighting over one ticket and that they can also slit throats of each others in general elections to get tickets.
