(Dunya News) – Substance abuse is one of the epidemics that Pakistan is currently faced with. Such is the case in Islamabad, the country’s capital, where cocaine is easily available and sold not just on the streets, but also in colleges and universities.
A special report by Dunya News has found that the local administration and police are negligent as drug dealers make more money exploiting on the vulnerabilities of the youth.
Dunya News reporter, Yasir Malik, during his investigative report reached out to a drug dealer in Islamabad. In a recorded conversation it was revealed that the one gram of cocaine cost somewhere between Rs. 12, 000 to Rs. 18, 000, depending on the quality.

Sold in posh parts of the capital, whether it is a busy market or a petrol pump, these drug dealers have no fear of the police.
According to the report, drug dealers have easy access to universities and colleges where they offer drugs to young students. While students claim the easy availability and use of drugs on campuses is an open secret, the authorities claim otherwise.
However, according to police authorities, the selling of drugs has reduced recently following strict monitoring and action. According to SP Zeeshan Haider, the authorities have tried to control the situation – something which he said has led to a decrease in the rampant sale of drugs.
