Nawaz's appeal against SC verdict regarding merger of NAB references rejected

Dunya News

The office raised objection, stating that the plea is not admissible as per rules.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) registrar office on Thursday has rejected appeal of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif against court’s decision to dismiss his petition seeking merger of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references.

The office raised objection, stating that the plea is not admissible as per rules.

It is to be mentioned here that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar heard Sharif family’s petition to merge the NAB references at his chamber on November 16.

During the hearing, CJP rejected the appeal and ordered accountability court to proceed with the cases separately.

SC disqualified Sharif from office in July over unreported sources of annual income of about $10,000, a salary the former premier denies ever receiving. The high court also ordered the NAB to investigate and conduct a trial into the Sharif family’s wider finances, including the London properties.

Sharif maintains control of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, which elected close ally Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as prime minister after Sharif was disqualified.
