ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on Monday prohibited all those organisations from collecting charity that are listed under the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) sanctions committee’s consolidated list.

The list includes Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JUD), its charity wing Falahi-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) and others.

In a notification today, it said, “Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan hereby prohibits all Companies from donating cash to the entities and individuals listed under the UNSC sanctions committee’s consolidated list.”

Also, SECP warned the individuals and entities of monetary penalty in case of non-compliance. “The Government of Pakistan has already prescribed penalty upto Rs 10 million for non-compliance of sanctions regime,” it announced.

Responding to the sanctions, JUD spokesperson told that they will move the Lahore High Court (LHC) and Supreme Court against the move. They alleged the Indian government of PM Narendra Modi of pressurising Pakistan through the United States.

The Pakistani government had launched crackdown against JUD by putting Hafiz Saeed on house arrest during January, last year. The three-member review board in LHC had rejected the government’s petition to extend house arrest of Mumbai attacks suspect Hafiz Saeed.
