The PkMAP leader submitted surety bonds worth five hundred thousand rupees.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Majeed Achakzai, a member of Balochistan Assembly, has been released from Huda District Jail in Quetta today (Friday) after he was granted bail by the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in a case pertaining to killing of traffic sergeant Attaullah.

The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) leader also submitted surety bonds worth five hundred thousand rupees.

Achakzai is the prime accused in the death of traffic sergeant Haji Attaullah, who was crushed to death by the legislator’s speeding vehicle on Zarghun Road on June 20 this year.

Initially, police registered a case against ‘unknown individuals’ — but a widely-circulated CCTV footage of the incident identified the vehicle as belonging to Achakzai. He was later arrested on June 24th from his house in Satellite Town area.

The bail approval is the second relief Achakzai has received in a week, as days ago he was acquitted in a vehicle tampering case related to the same incident.

The accused has already been acquitted in a case regarding kidnapping of private hospital’s owner, whereas, he is free on bail in connection with killing of a person on Jinnah Road in 1992.
