ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)- With an estimated cost of Rs21.29 billion, 2018 general elections would be most expensive elections in Pakistan’s history.

Inside-aware told our correspondent that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will buy smartphones worth over Rs1 billion. ECP has also placed an order to buy over 80,000 Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras for stern monitoring purpose while amount over Rs300 million would be spent on delimitation of constituencies.

There are several others factor behind exorbitant rise in expenditures. As per details garnered, numbers of polling stations would be raised to 100000 from existing 70,000. Meanwhile, use of latest technology would also hike expenditures as modern machines would be imported to ensure transparent electoral process.

Analysts believe that cost of holding 2018 General Polls would be four times more than the previous one held in 2013.
