KDA’s officials had conducted an operation in North Karachi’s 5-L sector to batter down illegal buildings on amenity plots grabbed through China-cutting.

The officials faced difficulty due to unavailability of police back-up and unidentified people also tried to halt the operation.
KDA’s DG Sami Siddiqui also visited North Karachi and instructed the officials to boost the operation.
Earlier, a report filed with Karachi Registry of Supreme Court had revealed that at least 35,000 Rafahi plots were illegally occupied through ‘China cutting’ -- a method in which bigger lands are cut short in smaller pieces.
The report was presented by Karachi Development Authority’s DG. The court was furious over the issue and questioned the building of Nazir Hussain University on Rafahi plots.
