Scores injured as armed men open fire at Agriculture Directorate in Peshawar

Three gun men have also entered the directorate.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – At least eleven people including two police officers have sustained severe injuries as some unidentified armed men on Friday opened fire  at the Agriculture Directorate located in front of Peshawar University.

Getting information about the incident, heavy contingent of police Army and Frontier Corps immediately arrived at the scene and cordoned off the entire area for the operation.

The injured are being taken to Khyber Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Three burqa-clad gun men have also entered the Directorate as intermittent gunfire, and blast heard from inside the premises.

An operation between forces and the suspects, under the supervision of Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Tahir Khan, is still continued.


ISPR statement 


According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan Army personnel arrived at the scene and besieged the building while one suspect has been killed in the retaliation.

It further stated that seven stranded students have been recovered.

Aerial surveillance of the operation is being carried out whereas armoured vehicles of security forces are also present in the Directorate.

Talking to media, Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Salahuddin Mehsud confirmed the attack and said that the terrorists will be dealt sternly. He said that he is monitoring the operation and that they are trying hard to safe lives of maximum students.

The attackers arrived at the location on a rickshaw, he disclosed.

The university was closed due to Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) holiday.
