Summary Karachi mayor assured the local body representatives of development works in their constituencies

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Mayor Waseem Akhtar has on Saturday presided over a meeting of local body representatives belonging to Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) and assured them of starting development projects in their constituencies, reported Dunya News.

In a bid to save his seat by roping in the opposition parties, Waseem Akhtar presided over a meeting of PML-N representatives on a weekly off day. It has been learnt that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan has been making overtures to the opposition parties because it is not confident about its own representatives’ loyalties.

Local body representatives are being given funds worth Rs 2.5 million and the beneficiaries will not only be the PML-N representatives but reps from all parties.

MQM also wanted to bring a no confidence movement against Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra in the 9th meeting of the city council but the opposition parties disapproved of the move.

On the other hand, the party fears that its members might have links with Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and thus is forced to negotiate with the opposition parties.
