JUI-F chief claimed that his party represents the tribes and raises voice for their rights

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Jamiat Ulema-e Islam-F chief Fazlur Rehman said on Saturday that he is proud to fight for the rights of the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) alone, adding that they represent the inhabitants and tribes.

Talking to a conference organised by JUI-F, he opined that the lawmakers in Islamabad only want to impose the decisions on FATA, recommending to consult with tribes prior to making the call. He recalled, “Tribal jirga was attended by five thousand people. It was decided that only the people of FATA will decide their future.”

He told that everyone including ex-PM Nawaz Sharif had supported the declaration of tribes in Jinnah Convention Centre. “We were punished for speaking up for the rights of FATA,” he added.

Discussing the matter further, he professed that JUI-F was punished for its loyalty to FATA. He called the people who backed away from their word as traitors and stressed that he was ashamed to call such people Pashtun leaders.

Fazl remarked that FATA people should be involved in decision-making regarding their future and emphasized the need to listen to their demands. He also asserted to join the scattered the tribes. He shed light on the importance of FATA merger in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
