Jahangir Tareen group has openly opposed the selection of Shah Mehmood Qureshi as opposition leader.

ISLAMABAD (Dunay News) – The efforts being made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to change opposition leader in the National Assembly has dented his own party as it has been divided into two groups.

Jahangir Tareen group has openly opposed the selection of Shah Mehmood Qureshi as the opposition leader, and demanded that party chairman should himself take up the responsibility.

Furthermore, the party sourced have also informed Dunya News that PTI has not yet selected Shah Mehmood for the aforementioned designation.

It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) had earlier agreed to nominate Shah Mehmood Qureshi as the next opposition leader.

Both parties expressed reservations on Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Khurshid Shah as leader of the opposition. Addressing to a joint press conference in Karachi, MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar had said the party shares the same opinion on several national issues with PTI.

On the other hand, PTI’s attempts to replace Khurshid Shah suffered a major setback on Thursday when several opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) and Awami National Party (ANP) refused to support its stance.
