LAHORE (Dunya News) – Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif is likely to fly back to London two days after he arrived in Islamabad owing to alleged medical condition of his wife, sources reported on Wednesday (September 27).

It is reported that the disqualified premier would soon return to his Mayfair residence to keep his ailing wife company as she is undergoing treatment for her lymph nodes cancer in London.

The former premier called on Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore earlier in the day today after he had arrived in his Jati Umra residence on Tuesday.

He had returned to Pakistan from London on Monday morning following which Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi among leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz convened separate meetings with him in Punjab House.

He appeared before an accountability court in Islamabad on Tuesday morning and left for Lahore soon after. Earlier in the day today, Nawaz Sharif visited British embassy in Lahore and applied for extension of visa.

The three-time prime minister was ousted by the top court on July 28 in its verdict delivered in a corruption case against him pursued by opposition parties namely Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Awami Muslim League and Jamaat-e-Islami.

Then joint opposition of Pakistan had pushed for a case against then premier in 2016 after Panama Papers carried a leak of Mossack Fonseca, a law firm which named Nawaz Sharif among 400 incumbent and former leaders of the world who owned offshore companies.

Opposition parties in Pakistan, primarily Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, led by Imran Khan, saw the offshore entities as then first family s means to stash wealth abroad and launder money.
