ISIS flag hoisted in Islamabad removed by police
Besides having Arabic inscriptions, the flag also bore the phrase: "Khilafat is coming".
ISLAMABAD (Daily Dunya) - A flag resembling that of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) was seen waving in Islamabad’s Khana area on Sunday morning, before being removed by the local police after a citizen reported the matter.
Besides having Arabic inscriptions, the flag also bore the phrase: "Khilafat is coming".
This can be seen as an indication that ISIS or individuals influenced by it are trying to spread the ideology of the terrorist group in Pakistan.
The officers also arrested a local, Naveed, who informed about the flag while they said that the identification of the suspects through CCTV footages is underway.
On the other hand, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has taken notice of the issue and sought report from Inspector General (IG) whereas State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry, talking to Voice of America, assured to have lodged a case into the matter.
He said that special team has also been formed as no such activity will be tolerated.
It is to be mentioned here that the office of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is about 10 minutes drive from the place where the flag was hoisted whereas prominent political personalities also use this route while traveling from airport.
