Death toll from dengue escalates to 17 in Peshawar

The number of affected patients in various government hospitals of the province is 406.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Death toll from deadly dengue virus in Peshawar has escalated to 17 as the disease continues to wreak havoc.

Two people died on Monday which include four-year-old son of Tehkal’s resident Akhtar Ali and Khyber Teaching Hospital’s lab technician Iqbal’s 45-year-old wife Fatima.

Previously, the provincial government imposed a health emergency on September 1 for 60 days after a delay of one and a half month.

However; even then the virus has claimed fives lives. Health minister Shahram Tarakai has said that the government is utilizing all resources to tackle the contagious disease.

According to a report by Dengue Response Unit, the number of affected patients in various government hospitals of the province is 406.
