Summary NAB will investigate alleged corruption and 16 offshore companies held by Sharif family
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Rawalpindi office of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will summon members of Sharif family in light of Supreme Court’s orders in Panama case verdict, according to sources.
After incapability of Lahore NAB to interrogate Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz, Rawalpindi NAB has now decided to summon them. Sources told NAB will investigate 16 offshore companies allegedly held by Sharif family.
Three notifications will be issued by Rawalpindi NAB. They will also probe Al-Azizia Steel Company and references and cases surrounding the Panama case. It was also reported today that NAB Balochistan DG Irfan Mangi, who was the member of Panama case JIT formulated by Supreme Court, has pardoned from taking part in corruption references against Sharif family. All evidence has been provided in JIT report and investigation team should now take the task from here, he said.
Earlier today, it was reported that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced in his written reply that he will not appear NAB and challenged their steps to start inquiry. The writing submitted to investigation team of NAB said the law being used to probe is against the regulations. Authority of inquiry only belongs to NAB chairman, it stated.
Lawyer Amjad Pervez submitted the two-page reply in which the objections were raised. He argued that the Sharif family has right to fair trail according to Article 10. He called NAB’s actions illegal in view of review appeals.
