Slow internet speed irks users on second day

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Slow internet speed is continuing to irk users on second day (Sunday) as the fault in the international submarine cable system IMV could not be resolved entirely.

The 13,000km-long IMV cable, extending from India till France, was affected by a technical fault near Jeddah on Saturday creating difficulties for the internet subscribers.

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) General Manager (GM) Imran Janjua has claimed that the issue will be resolved today. He let it be known that international engineers are fixing the problem.

Furthermore, PTCL authorities have informed that they have successfully arranged for additional bandwidth through their international cable systems and partners, and things will start getting better.



Due to the internet fault, flight schedule was also affected at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad, and eight international as well as domestic flights were cancelled.

According to flight inquiry, Manchester-bound Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight 701, Medina-bound private flight NL705 and Karachi-bound private flight PA201 were cancelled.

Furthermore, the private and national carrier flights that were scheduled to arrive from Dubai (PA211), Karachi (PK368), Jeddah (742) and Medina (NL706) were also annulled. Passengers are also facing trouble due to the internet breakdown.
