KARACHI (Dunya News) – While nationwide rain was welcomed as a blessing after severe heat, it turned out to be a bane for local citizens of Karachi due to improper arrangements by the government institutions.

Even the residence of the Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam named “Wazir Mansion” in the Sindh provincial capital could not be freed from the accumulation of water. The two-storey building was reportedly embedded with the rain water during the pre-monsoon week. Met Office had already issued an alert a few days ago and warned authorities to make necessary arrangements for smooth running of affairs.

However, Sindh government paid a very little heed to predict the hazards of rain for the metropolitan city. Areas beside Wazir Mansion including Kharadar, Mithadar, Kapra Market and Bolton Market also sank in the excessive untreated water on the roads.

The residents asked how the government will take care of locals when it couldn’t even prevent the destruction of a house once resided by the national hero. The media was consistent in covering the areas under high accumulation of water and political and administrative heads paid little attention to their cry. The local institutions failed to fulfill their promises in the populous regions.

Civilized nations are known to respect their leaders and honour the achievements. The destruction of his residence and accumulation of water in it shows how much we care about his belongings.
