ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)- Amidst escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf, National Assembly (NA) on Thursday has adopted resolutions urging to resolve Saudi-Qatar diplomatic rift through dialogues and condemning attacks in Iran.

Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq chaired the sitting of the House. At the outset of the proceedings, the House offered prayers for those martyred in the terrorist attacks in Iran.

According to details, Aftab Khan Sherpao of Qaumi Watan Party and Law Minister Zahid Hamid tabled the resolutions urging all stakeholders to show restraint.

“This House calls upon the government to take concrete steps towards forging unity amongst the Muslim Ummah in the region, in accordance with parliament’s unanimous resolutions adopted on 10-04-2015,” the resolution read.

Aftab Khan Sherpao said that US president Trump pigeonholed Iran in Riyadh conference thus leading the region to a hostile situation whereas he deplored that no briefing was given to parliament. Sherpao sensed US and Israel fingerprints behind Saudi-Qatar rift.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Shireen Mazari once again termed government’s foreign policy a failure and urged Pakistan to distance itself from Islamic military alliance at earliest.

NA also adopted another resolution condemning multiple attacks by ISIS in Iran.

Pakistan Peoples Party s (PPP) Naveed Qamar, while speaking on the floor of the House, stressed on to carefully monitor the situation in Pakistan against the backdrop of attacks in Iran.
