On May 11, Standing Committee of the Senate on Religious Affairs unanimously approved Ehtram-e-Ramazan (Amendment) Bill, 2017 which saw fine for the hotel owners who violate the Ehtram-e-Ramazan Ordinance 1981 increase from Rs 500 to Rs 25,000.
According to the law, those who are registered a case against for eating or smoking in public would face imprisonment of upto three months along with fine.
