Summary Sorry to tell you: #panamapapers ARE about #corruption," the journalist wrote
(Web Desk) – Pulitzer Prize winning German journalist associated with International Consortium of Investigative Journalists locked horns with Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday on a social media platform over Panama Leaks.
Premier s daughter took to Twitter to criticise Panama Leaks and branded the content that was published in April 2016 "crap." In another tweet she stated: “Panama Papers were never about corruption. Even the stealers & hackers (read originators) didn’t say it was. Losers in imminent danger 1/2.”

However, the journalist whose Twitter bio claims, “broke #panamapapers” , Bastian Obermayer denied Nawaz’s claim and responded. “Sorry to tell you: #panamapapers ARE about #corruption. We found an astonishing number of corruption cases in the documents - and all real.”

Panama Papers, a Panama-based media outlet published a leak of documents in April 2016 from a law firm known as Mossack Fonseca which was studied by ICIJ.
The leak named at least 400 incumbent as well as former leaders of countries across the world among others for owning offshore companies.
However, it was asserted by the ICIJ at the time that published content in no way alleges any of the persons of corruption. Whereas, the journalist affiliated with the ‘studied and informed’ publishing of the leak clamed today that it was about corruption.
Maryam Nawaz did point out the stance ICIJ had taken last year as she tweeted:

She went on to allege ICIJ to have an ill-motivated nexus with some journalists in Pakistan to aid conspiracy against the state in form of Panama Leaks.
Don t want 2say much abt nexus bet u & yr Pak counterparts but sad that they bcame a part of conspiracy against Pak. https://t.co/HQANc2lvWT

The Pulitzer Prize winning journalist in response gave his two cents on what journalism was. "Journalism isn’t about bringing down a govrnmt, It’s about telling the truth. Like it or not. (& #panamapapers isn’t only abt Pakistan, btw)," he tweeted.

The conversation died down after the two exchanged barbs as premier’s daughter stopped tweeting on the issue.
