Summary Nisar inaugurated a Nadra mega centre in North Nazimabad of Karachi today
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has branded news about blockage of five lac NICs across the country a lie and cleared that 3.5 lac were blocked.
The federal minister inaugurated National Database and Registration Authority mega centre in North Nazimabad and while talking to the media on the occasion, he denied having 5 lac ID cards blocked in the country.
Around 3.5 lac National Identity Cards were blocked by the ministry, he cleared.
While instructing the officials at the centre, Nisar said that the most difficult task is to satisfy the public and that the employees should maintain a polite attitude towards the complainants.
Earlier on October 14 last year, the Interior Minister announced that work was being done towards issuance of e-passports using an online system.
Nisar had announced that the issuance would begin in June 2017. He said that all passports were needed to be issued for at least ten years as it lessens burden on the authority regarding renewal.
E-passports would earn Pakistani system respect abroad as suspicion over green passports would no longer be the case, he had asserted.
The minister said that customers would be able to renew their passports without hassle at their homes using the online system. Nisar had then said that a major crackdown against fake identity cards was underway.
